my buddy laura pulled out an ancient zine of mine and pointed out how much she likes this panel … some people have said that they prefer my “old” style to my “new” style, which is difficult for me to argue because i don’t feel like my style has really changed that much … or has it?

Self-Portrait, 2009

So I made this book of spontaneous drawings & narratives called Basic Cable during the winter term of my senior year in 2009-10 (please click 2 enlarge)

At the time, I was having this existential crisis about whether making art and comics for a living “was feeding into the capitalist regime of monetary evil”, and if i’d be better off moving to the amazonian jungle living with natives … anyway, i got over that hump, so here’s an excerpt from the first page.
